Introduction

Bicycle manufacturer Arkus & Romet Group is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in Poland and Europe. The company started in 1991 as a small bicycle trading company under the brand name “Arkus” and later acquired the already much better known brand name “Romet” with its factories. Arkus & Romet Group manufactures bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles. The company has a strong development unit and is considered a trailblazer in the bicycle industry in Poland. The Group’s main production sites are located in three Polish towns: Podgrodzie, Jastrow and Kowalewo.

History

“Romet” bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles have served generations of Poles over the past 65 years, but the name has also become well known outside the country of manufacture throughout Europe, particularly in Germany and the Netherlands.

In 1945/1946, there were around 1.2 million bicycles in Poland, which means that there was only one bicycle for every 23 inhabitants. However, the creation of the United Bicycle Manufacturers in 1948 led to a surge in bicycle use in the following years. The company grew rapidly despite a shortage of raw materials and a limited workforce, and its trademark “Romet” was created for the company’s 11th production unit in 1971. The Romet factory initially employed 450 people and produced 220,000 bicycles a year. By 1977, Romet had produced one million bicycles. By 1980 – two million.

Today

During the 2017-2018 cycling season, the Arkus & Romet Group continues to focus on modern solutions and world trends for bicycles. Romet bikes combine unique European design while remaining reasonably priced. Technical developments, cooperation with the world’s most renowned manufacturers of spare parts and accessories have ensured the popularity of Romet bikes at the biggest European bike shows. Romet’s electric bikes were particularly striking – the Romet 4E electric bikes are a testament to the remarkable developments in this field too.

Main models

The Arkus and Romet product range is extremely wide, with several hundred bicycles. All the main types of bikes are represented – mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, urban bikes, electric bikes and children’s bikes. Arkus and Romet are primarily focused on offering urban, hybrid and mountain bikes for everyday use. At the same time, the range also includes top-of-the-range carbon-frame off-road and road bikes.

NB! All urban bikes without front basket can also be pre-fitted with a bicycle basket in the right colour and size on site if required.
