BICYCLES SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN

A subsidy from the city will increase the number of students using bicycles on a daily basis and increase the share of cyclists in Tallinn’s traffic. The grant also aims to increase the number of children taking the cyclist driving test, which will raise their awareness of traffic rules and increase their safety on the road. According to the Road Traffic Act, a child aged between 10 and 15 who wants to ride a bicycle on the road must have a cyclist’s licence.

How to apply?

Applications will be accepted from 1. on 1 August 2022. The application for the allowance is submitted by the parent whose place of residence (Tallinn) is the same as that of the child entitled to the allowance at the time of the application. If the application is made by a guardian, the requirements relating to the parent’s place of residence in the civil register do not apply. A copy of the invoice for the purchase of the bicycle and the cyclist’s driving licence must be submitted with the grant application. The grant application can be submitted via Tallinn’s e-service at taotlen.tallinn.ee, digitally signed by e-mail or signed on paper. The grant will be paid into the bank account of the beneficiary named in the application within 30 calendar days of the application being approved, provided that all the conditions for the grant have been met and the city’s budget has the funds to pay the grant. Applications for support are processed by the Tallinn Education Department.
