Help with putting together a children’s ski set:
We recommend choosing ski boots one size larger than your usual shoe size. You can safely allow for growth and choose boots two sizes larger for your child.
The skis included in the set are classic-style skis, but by choosing a shorter length, you can also use the skate technique (you cannot use classic-style skis for skating).
As a general rule, classic-style skis should be 15–20 cm longer than your height, and skating skis 5–10 cm longer. Anyone wishing to use a single pair of skis for both techniques should choose skis that are around 10–15 cm longer than their height.
For younger children, particularly those just starting out, skis of their own height are best. Longer skis are more difficult to manoeuvre and may put the child off skiing altogether.
A handy formula for finding the right pole length:
For classic style: skier’s height × 0.85
For freestyle: skier’s height × 0.9
For classic style: skier’s height × 0.85
For freestyle: skier’s height × 0.9
