If the ski is only used for classic skiing, the grip area of the ski base could be roughened with sandpaper. Smooth with a synthetic cork. Repeat the application procedure 2-3 times, levelling each coat. Coats may be coated with different temperature retention compounds. A harder (colder-weather) tack coat is generally applied underneath to increase wear resistance and improve the bond between the different layers. The top coat is weather-appropriate.
