Start Basewax and Start Basewax Extra are base coats (primer coats) for the undercoat of a holding coat. They are used to reduce the wear and tear of the grip coat. Start Basewax Extra – Suitable for old, grainy, hard snow – Weight: 45 g Instructions for use Clean the holding area of old grease. If the ski is only used for classic skiing, the grip area of the ski base could be roughened with sandpaper (this way the grip coating stays better under the ski base and is more resistant to wear). Next, rub a thin layer of the base coat onto the ski-base grip area, spread it with a grease stick and finish with a synthetic cork to make it even. Allow the skis to cool completely before applying the grip compound.
